What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is a therapeutic treatment rooted in ancient Chinese medicine, where fine needles are placed in specific points on the body to induce healing effects. There are many styles of acupuncture including Traditional Chinese Acupuncture, Western Acupuncture (Dry Needling), Microsystem Acupuncture, Five Elements Acupuncture and many more.
How does Acupuncture work?
Our bodies contain a complex network of energy channels called meridians. When these channels become blocked, energy flow or Qi is restricted, leading to various physical, mental, or emotional symptoms. Acupuncture treatment helps remove these blockages, allowing the body's natural self-healing mechanisms to activate.
How quickly before I see a difference after Acupuncture treatment?
In many cases, you may notice a reduction in pain or other symptoms as early as your first treatment. However, it's important to continue with the treatment, as symptoms may otherwise return. Through consistent treatment, you should notice longer periods between symptom recurrences. Remarkably, in certain cases, just one acupuncture session can significantly alleviate your condition.

How is your Acupuncture treatment different to others?
I use acupuncture treatment methods which are very effective for a range of conditions both physical as well as psychological and emotional. My style is different in that you can experience immediate results and changes. I use very few needles, but through careful selection of acupuncture points these can have profound and rapid effect on your body's energy and healing. For clients seeking relief from pain or injuries, I recommend avoiding painkillers on the day of your acupuncture session. This allows you to clearly feel and gauge the change in your pain levels as the treatment takes effect.
What are Meridians?
Meridians are pathways through which energy flows within the body. Similar to blood vessels, which can become blocked, blockages in these energy channels can have serious consequences. Just as blocked blood vessels can lead to conditions like stroke, blockages in meridians can disrupt the body's balance and result in various health conditions.
Why do Meridians get blocked?
Meridians can become blocked due to various factors, including: trauma or injury; emotional or physical stress; poor diet and unhealthy eating habits, such as consuming excessive processed foods or alcohol; lack of exercise and insufficient physical activity; environmental factors including exposure to pollutants or toxins; negative emotions such as fear, anger, or sadness – all these can impede circulation and energy flow in the body.
How do we know which Meridians are blocked?
I am trained and experienced to identify blocked or imbalanced energy channels. You may also be aware of these blockages through various 'unexplained' pains and aches in your body, which are often attributed to physical exercise or 'old age', but in many cases they are a manifestation of blockages in energy flow or Qi.
Is Acupuncture painful?
In most cases, Acupuncture treatment is very relaxing. Only a few needles are used during treatment, and for the majority of people, they do not cause discomfort.
How many sessions of acupuncture will I need?
The number of sessions required depends on your specific condition and how your body responds to treatment. Chronic conditions typically require multiple sessions to see significant improvement, while conditions that have recently emerged may resolve in just a few sessions. After your initial session, you can opt to prepay and pre-book a block of follow up sessions at a discounted price or continue on a pay-as-you-go basis.
